Course Objectives

 

This course is designed to serve as an introduction to German literature from the period of  humanism (15th century) to that of realism (19th century).  Each student will be responsible for two oral presentations (each on an author from the period) and one paper (on a literary work).

Mid-term exam                   15%

Final exam                             25%

Classwork /homework   30%

Reports                                                       10 % (5% each)

Paper                                         20%

 

Attendance

 

Regular attendance is required.  More than three absences may result in a lowering of your grade.  Assignments must be handed in when due in order to receive full credit.

 

Projected exam and due dates

 

Mid-term:  March 7

Term paper due:  May 2

Final exam:  Thursday, May 4 (1:00 p.m.)
